Popular Online Forum Is Devoted to Science Fiction and Fantasy
Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010Science fiction was born in books but it has made its name in cinema. More people are introduced to science fiction through movies than through television, books, radio, or stage plays. That wasn’t always the case. In fact, there was a time when radio was the king of science fiction presentation — and there was a time when comic books dominated the science fiction stage.
The media through which people learn about science fiction have changed dramatically across the decades. Today the Internet is one of the most important channels for science fiction, but movies remain the broadest medium through which people are exposed to new ideas and worlds.
One of the Websites specializing in science fiction cinema is the SF-Fandom forum community. Many of the interesting discussions taking place in the moderated Web forums center on movies and television. Science fiction cinema or film is, in fact, a multi-media topic in itself. After all, there are now made-for-Internet as well as made-for-TV science fiction movies. In fact, there are even Direct-to-DvD movies.
SF-Fandom is one of the Web’s oldest science fiction fan communities. Now accompanied by the SF Fandom Wordpress Blog and the SF Fandom Blogger Blog, SF-Fandom provides a well-rounded introduction to many science fiction and fantasy topics for people interested in learning more about popular scifi movies, books, and experiences.
Many of the latest science fiction movies are discussed on blogs and popular social media platforms like Twitter, but there are still plenty of science fiction fans who want to share their views (and links to cool videos and images) on a traditional Web forum like those provided at SF-Fandom. And because the SF-Fandom forums are moderated, Web spammers rae kept out of the discussions. Their accounts are deleted and search engines are blocked from indexing user profiles.
